“Samplings” is an experimentation to explore the relationship between sound and visuals. It is generally understood that we perceive visuals as the main clues in perceiving the world and sound accompanies as a secondary element. In visual media, sound also is mostly a secondary consideration. It is not to challenge the hierarchy but for the sake of experimenting, I am inverting it. Using video I am fixing the visual to a single point without any camera movement and open our perception to the sound that occurs in the same space. I am using the enigmatic relationship between sound and image that exists in the postcard to further stir our reflection upon what we hear and upon the subjectivity of perceiver.
